Kokko

静岡県·銘菓

Kokko

When you gently break open the fluffy yellow steamed cake, a smooth milk cream flows out. The gentle sweetness melts softly in your mouth. Created by Miho Mi of Shizuoka City. The name is said to have been derived from eggs → chicks → the baby word 'kokko', and also resembles the sound of a chicken's crow, reflecting the previous generation's belief that eggs are the origin of confectionery. It was born around 1985 and was renewed into its current form the following year. A standout feature is the commitment to steaming it with underground water from Abekawa and using only as many fresh eggs as needed for each day, all within 3 days of being laid. This is a product that has continued to be loved for a long time as a classic Shizuoka souvenir.
