Kita no Katsu
With a single sip, a crisp, dry flavor spreads across the palate, born from the harsh climate nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is a drink from the edge of the world, perfect to enjoy alongside Nemuro's seafood treasures such as flower crab and Pacific saury. The brewer is Usui Katsusaburo Shoten, founded in 1887. It is the easternmost sake brewery in Japan. The first generation, Katsusaburo Usui, moved from Niigata to Nemuro, establishing canning factories and a brewing business, thereby laying the industrial foundation for this remote land. "Kita no Katsu" has continued to be brewed in this location for over a hundred years and has become a brand deeply loved by the local community. This is Nemuro's pride—a local sake crafted at the eastern edge of Japan.
