Chitose-tsuru
When poured into a glass, the gentle aroma of rice wafts up. Brewed with subsoil water from the Toyohira River, the sake has a crisp, clear taste that pairs beautifully with Hokkaido's seafood. It is brewed by Nippon Seishu, the sole brewery in Sapporo. Its roots trace back to 1872, when Yojiemon Shibata arrived from Noto and opened a sake brewery. In 1928, eight sake brewing companies merged to form the current company, at which time "Chitose-tsuru" was born. The brewing water is subsoil water drawn from 150 meters underground from the Toyohira River. The name embodies a wish for a thousand years of prosperity. A historic cup to be enjoyed in the land of Sapporo.
