Tokachi Wine
As you tilt your glass, the powerful yet rich flavors of grapes grown in the northern lands unfold. It is a cup that feels as though the harsh yet magnificent nature of Tokachi has been captured within. It was born in 1963. Facing financial difficulties due to repeated cold damage and earthquakes, Ikeda Town launched this project as Japan's first municipal wine in an effort to rebuild the town. It all began when the mayor at the time took notice of the wild grapes ripening heavily in the autumn fields. The passion of the pioneers who challenged themselves with grape cultivation in this frigid land lives on today in the 'Ikeda Wine Castle' that towers over the hills. This is a proud bottle from Tokachi that paved the way for the town's future.
