Kitami Hakka Candy
When you put it in your mouth, the refreshing sensation of natural peppermint drifts smoothly through your nose. It is a candy with a cool, refreshing aftertaste that helps refresh your mood. Kitami was once a "Peppermint Kingdom," accounting for approximately 70% of the world's peppermint production. Around 1938-1939, it reached its peak with a cultivation area of 21,000 hectares and an oil wholesale volume of 780 tons. However, due to the liberalization of imports in 1971, the domestic industry declined, and the Kitami Hakka factory closed in 1983. Kitami Hakka Tsusho, the maker of this candy, was founded the following year with the mission "not to let the light of the region's peppermint go out." The retro packaging also quietly breathes with the history of Kitami.
