Kuraya Matsunoro
Tsuyama flourished as a castle town of the Mimasaka Tsuyama Domain during the Edo period. "Matsunoro" is a famous confection that has been loved in this land. It is said that its name comes from its appearance, reminiscent of morning dew reflecting against the green pines of Tsuyama Castle. Originally created by artisans in the castle town, it is a prestigious sweet that once served as an official confection for the Tsuyama Domain. Although production once ceased, the third generation of Kuraya revived it in 1926 based on traditional methods. It features an elegant taste, with yuzu-flavored gyuhi (soft mochi) coated in Wasanbon sugar. It is also said that Emperor Showa purchased this item during his visit to Tsuyama. Please enjoy this pride of Tsuyama, which evokes the elegance of a castle town. You are sure to want more.
