Koeido - Ganso Kibidango
A classic Okayama souvenir, told alongside the legend of Momotaro. This is Koeido's 'Ganso Kibidango'. Koeido began in Ansei 3 (1856). Originally a shop dealing in ceramics, it transitioned into a confectionery shop. While kibidango used to be made by steaming and hardening millet and had a short shelf life, the current form was improved into a soft, elegant gyuhi-style sweet using glutinous rice and starch syrup. It is said that in Meiji 18, it was presented to Emperor Meiji during his visit to Okayama and was praised as 'the best in Japan.' Its chewy texture and gentle sweetness are flavors loved across generations. It is a representative confection of Okayama, preserved for over 160 years.
