Kinmando Murasuzume
A traditional confection originating from Kurashiki, produced by Kinmando of Okayama City. It is an adorable, half-moon-shaped Japanese sweet consisting of smooth bean paste wrapped in a thin, crepe-like dough. In 1877, Kikokado of Kurashiki created this famous sweet, inspired by the shape of a traditional woven hat (amigasa) and the golden color of ripening rice stalks. It is said that the name originated from the sight of people dancing with hats on their heads, looking like sparrows gathering around ears of rice. Kinmando carries on this tradition, finishing each piece with their unique craftsmanship. The depth of this famous sweet lies in the fact that the flavor varies from shop to shop, even among those called 'Murasuzume.' Please enjoy the harmony of the soft dough and bean paste along with the history of Okayama confectionery.
