Konishiya Suzume
"Suzume" is produced by the Kurashiki Japanese confectionery shop "Konishiya." It is an adorable, crescent-shaped wagashi (Japanese sweet) consisting of bean paste wrapped in a thin layer of dough, following the lineage of Kurashiki's traditional famous confection, Murasuzume. Murasuzume was created in 1877 by Kikodo in Kurashiki, inspired by the golden color of woven hats and rice ears. The name is said to originate from the sight of people dancing with hats on their heads, which resembled sparrows gathering around rice ears. Konishiya inherits this tradition, finishing it with an elegant flavor using a method unique to their shop. A quintessential Kurashiki treat that allows you to enjoy the harmony of soft dough and bean paste. Please enjoy this classic taste as a companion while strolling through the historic Bikan Historical Quarter.
