Kurashiki Tayori

'Kurashiki Tayori' embodies the charm of Kurashiki in a confection. It is crafted as an elegant Japanese sweet with a calm appearance, reminiscent of the white walls and namako (latticed) walls found in the Bikan Historical Quarter. The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter was a prosperous merchant city that flourished during the Edo period as a 'Tenryo' (land under direct control of the Shogunate). The streetscape, featuring white-walled storehouses and 'namako walls'—where flat tiles are raised with plaster for fire prevention—remains to this day. The atmospheric scenery created by the willow-lined paths and the Kurashiki River has been designated as a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. These streets convey the vestiges of a time when the area bustled as a hub for the collection and distribution of goods. A gift that evokes memories of Kurashiki's historic streets. Please enjoy it slowly, along with the lingering emotions of a stroll through the Bikan Historical Quarter.
