Oimatsuen Mangetsu (Full Moon)
The flagship confection 'Mangetsu' produced by Oimatsuen, a long-established shop in Soja. This is an adorable baked manju with a round dome shape that evokes a full moon floating in the night sky. Measuring about four centimeters in diameter, the lower half of the manju is a pale yellow while the upper half has a fragrant toasted color, making its appearance look exactly like a waxing or waning moon. It is a local specialty available only at the Oimatsuen storefront in the Soja shopping district. The moist dough and the gentle sweetness of the bean paste harmonize beautifully. Thanks to its name and appearance that allude to the full moon, it serves as a great topic for stories. Each piece is carefully baked, offering a sense of warmth. It is a must-have item when visiting Soja.
