Mogami Inari Yuzu Senbei

This is a famous rice cracker that has been loved for a long time on the approach to Mogami Inari, one of Japan's three major Inari shrines. Mogami Inari is one of Okayama's premier places of prayer, attracting the highest number of visitors in the prefecture during the first three days of the New Year. This yuzu senbei is the most famous specialty produced by Okamoto-ya, a long-established shop spanning three generations on the shrine approach. Small crackers about the size of a ten-yen coin are coated with yuzu paste from Okayama Prefecture. With a light, crispy texture, the aroma of yuzu fills your mouth. The pleasant combination of yuzu fragrance and the lightness of the cracker makes it impossible to stop at just one. It is perfect not only as a souvenir from shrine visits but also as an accompaniment to tea. Small and easy to eat, the flavor makes you reach for another.
