Naniwa Choroken Chorokenpi

Just saying the name aloud makes your cheeks loosen with a smile—this is a snack full of Osaka-style playfulness. 'Choroken' refers to a type of street performance (kadotsuke-gei) loved by the people of Naniwa from the late Edo period through the Meiji era. Featuring a humorous face drawn on a large pot with its tongue sticking out, it is also said to be the origin of the Osaka dialect word 'chokeru' (to joke around). By combining this 'Choroken' with Tosa's specialty 'Imo Kenpi,' we created 'Chorokenpi,' a slightly salty version of sweet potato sticks. This product is crafted by Issodo, an Osaka confectionery shop. An Osaka souvenir packed with puns and nostalgia that you can give with a smile. Please enjoy the crunchy texture and gentle saltiness.
