Mitarashi Komochi
A famous confection born from a world-first idea: wrapping sweet and savory sauce entirely within a small mochi. Chidoriya Soke, an established shop founded in 1630 (Kan'ei 7), released "Mitarashi Komochi" in 1989. Driven by the desire to make mitarashi dango easier to eat, they devised a unique manufacturing method that encapsulates the sauce within the mochi, even obtaining a patent for it. The combination of chewy mochi made from domestic rice and the sweet-savory soy sauce that melts in your mouth upon the first bite has grown into a massive long-seller with over 200 million units sold. Certified as "Osaka Product (Osaka-mon)", it is truly a representative souvenir of Osaka. Please enjoy the lingering sweet and savory aftertaste that spreads with every bite.
