Kihachushuso Honpo Mikasa
A heavy, substantial Mikasa. When you break it open, you are greeted by a dense filling of smooth red bean paste. Mikasa is produced by Kihachushuso Honpo, founded in 1948 in Juso, Osaka. With its main store located in the arcade near Juso Station on the Hankyu Line, it is a long-beloved local confectionery shop also known for its Mitarashi Dango and Sake Manju. While 'Mikasa' refers to Dorayaki, its skin has a firm texture and is generously filled with red bean paste. Both the skin and the filling are lightly sweetened, allowing the rich flavor of the adzuki beans to spread gently through your palate. It is an authentic Japanese sweet that, while not flashy, is deeply satisfying. A famous confection of Juso that you'll want to savor slowly with a cup of tea.
