Kikusjudo Umeboshi
It looks exactly like a pickled plum (umeboshi). But once you put it in your mouth, it is subtly sweet—. This playful Japanese confection, "Umeboshi," is crafted by Kikusjudo Yoshinobu, a long-established shop in Koraibashi, Osaka. Founded in 1830 (Tenpo 1), Kikusjudo Yoshinobu is a renowned establishment known for not displaying a storefront sign. This sweet consists of white bean paste wrapped in yokan, topped with shiso at the stem and coated in sugar; it takes an incredible four days to complete. It is a masterpiece of skill and playfulness, even selected as an Osaka specialty. Every piece is handmade, adhering to traditional manufacturing methods. You will be surprised at first glance and surprised again with the first bite. This elegant, sweet delicacy is also a perfect conversation starter.
