Aoki Shofuan Asayake Mikasa
It is said that 'Mikasa'—which is how dorayaki is referred to in the Kansai region—was named after the sight of Mount Mikasa (now Mount Wakakusa) in Nara, as seen by a confectionery shop owner in the early Showa era. Aoki Shofuan's 'Asayake Mikasa' is a dedicated product that delivers only those baked fresh every morning starting from 5:00 AM, just as the name suggests. Using Yodo Egg Hikari, domestic wheat flour, and adzuki beans from Tokachi, Hokkaido, the thick, fluffy pancake is filled with smooth red bean paste. It won the Honorary President's Award at the 25th National Confectionery Expo. The combination of the moist, freshly baked dough and the flavorful adzuki bean paste creates a golden color reminiscent of a sunrise. It is a classic Japanese sweet with a gentle sweetness that makes you want to enjoy it with tea.
