Kyukoku Kousendo Momiji Tempura

"Momiji Tempura" consists of real maple leaves coated in batter and deep-fried until crispy. It is a traditional confection representing Minoh, a famous spot for autumn colors, passed down for over 150 years. Produced by Kyukoku Kousendo, founded in 1940 (Showa 15). Legend has it that the origin dates back to En no Gyoji, who is said to have opened Mt. Minoh long ago; he praised the beauty of the maple leaves reflected in the waterfall and served them to travelers by frying them in lamp oil. This treat offers a delightful experience with its crispy, light texture and the fragrant aroma of the slightly sweet batter. There is an indescribable elegance to snacking on them while walking along the Minoh waterfall path. It is a souvenir that allows you to take home the very essence of traveling through the autumn foliage.
