Piyorin
Jiggly and soft. A new specialty of Nagoya, so delicate that even its fragility is lovable. 'Piyorin' is a chick-shaped sweet born at JR Nagoya Station. Introduced in 2011, this Western-style confectionery features custard pudding made with eggs from Nagoya Cochin chickens raised in Aichi Prefecture, gently wrapped in bavaroa and coated with powdered sponge cake to resemble a little chick. As the name suggests—a play on 'piyo-piyo' (the sound of a chick chirping) and 'purin' (pudding)—its round and cute appearance has gained immense popularity. It became such a sensation on social media that the 'Piyorin Challenge'—trying to transport it home without it collapsing—became a trending topic. Once you insert a spoon, you encounter smooth pudding and meltingly tender bavaroa. An adorable specialty exclusive to the station, both in appearance and taste.
