Sakakura Sohonpo Yukari
A representative shrimp cracker from Nagoya, luxuriously baked with natural shrimp. This is "Yukari," produced by Sakakura Sohonpo, founded in 1889 (Meiji 22). Its roots lie in "Ebi Hanpei," which is said to have been highly praised by the Lord of Owari in 1666 after tasting shrimp crackers grilled by a fisherman. Sakakura focused on this method to perfect their fresh-baked cracker, and in 1966, they named it "Yukari" with the wish to "bind connections (yukari)." Using plenty of rich shrimp, the flavor is brought out through a double-baking process. Upon taking a bite, the savory aroma of shrimp spreads richly. It is a classic Nagoya confection that continues to be a beloved souvenir.
