Sicilian Rice

Warm rice, sweet and savory sautéed beef, a generous topping of cold fresh vegetables, and a drizzle of mayonnaise. Sicilian Rice is a dish where you can enjoy heat and cold, as well as richness and freshness, all in one plate. It was born around 1975 in Saga City. It is said to have started as a staff meal (makanai) served in restaurants in the city center. Eventually, it became a staple in coffee shops and restaurants, and since around 2008, it has been enjoyed as a local gourmet specialty. There are various theories regarding the origin of its name, and it is not clearly known. Nevertheless, the charm of this dish lies in its freedom—each shop's ingredients and flavors vary slightly.
