Tamago Kake Gohan (TKG)

Misaki Town is known as the holy land of Tamago Kake Gohan—commonly referred to as TKG. The specialty is a simple bowl consisting of freshly laid eggs and rice grown in terraced paddies, seasoned with a dedicated soy sauce. Behind its reputation as a 'holy land,' there is a theory that Ginka Kishida, a great figure from Misaki Town, loved Tamago Kake Gohan and helped spread its popularity throughout Japan. The town is home to one of the largest poultry farms in Western Japan, ensuring an abundant supply of eggs. Locally, they have named a special set meal the 'Kofuku (Happiness) Set,' playing on the words 'Ko' (from the yellow yolk) and 'Fuku' (happiness), using it as a centerpiece for town revitalization. Dropping a fresh egg onto glossy rice and drizzling a swirl of the dedicated soy sauce creates a simple yet brilliant taste that highlights the quality of the ingredients—a truly happy flavor unique to Misaki.
