Akaiwa Peaches

When it comes to the quintessential taste of summer in Okayama, peaches are the star. Akai-wa City, in particular, is a special production area known as the birthplace of white peaches. In fact, the white peach varieties that serve as the foundation for types like Shimizu Hakuto were discovered in an orchard in the former Kumayama Town in 1901. Akaiwa is a land of tradition that has continued peach cultivation since ancient times; its long hours of sunlight, warm climate, and well-drained soil produce sweet and juicy peaches. A characteristic feature is how they ripen into a white, elegant state by covering each fruit with a bag to block direct sunlight. With milky-white flesh that is soft to the touch, a single bite releases an abundance of juice and a melting sweetness. Adorned with an elegant 'white peach fragrance,' each piece is a masterpiece that makes for a delightful summer gift.
