Bizen Curry is a local gourmet specialty of Bizen City, featuring a way to enjoy the food unique to the home of Bizen pottery. It is sometimes served in Bizen ware—one of Japan's six ancient kilns—allowing you to savor the meal along with the warmth of the clay. Bizen ware is a simple yet powerful type of pottery, fired using only clay and flame without the use of glazes. Due to 'yohen' (kiln changes) that occur inside the kiln, every piece has a different expression, making no two items exactly alike. This local curry was born from connecting this pottery culture with local ingredients. Each shop offers its own arrangement using local produce, making it fun to compare different versions.
