Tsuyama Roll (Tsuyama Roll Sushi)
Insert a fork into the softly rolled dough. The moist, tender sponge and the cream that melts in your mouth. With just one bite, a gentle sweetness spreads, bringing a relaxing smile to your face. The dough uses 'Fuku Honoka,' a wheat variety grown in Tsuyama. As wheat cultivation expands locally, eight confectionery shops (both Japanese and Western style) joined forces to create this local sweet to share its charm, each contributing their own ingenuity. Since 2010, they have been sold under a unified brand, offering a diverse lineup of unique roll cakes that incorporate local ingredients such as black soybeans, cherry blossoms, peaches, and Japanese mountain yam (jinenjo) depending on the shop. With eight different shops, the joy of choosing is all part of the experience. It is a slice of happiness, rolled with the bounties of Tsuyama.
