Kimobetsu Asparagus

Thick and sweet green asparagus grown at the foot of Mount Yotei. Kimobetsu Town is known as one of the birthplaces of asparagus cultivation in Japan, with farming having begun in 1929. With large temperature fluctuations between day and night and clear air, this land is perfect for growing asparagus. Because they are grown in open fields rather than greenhouses, receiving plenty of sunlight, they absorb nutrients from the soil thoroughly to grow into stalks filled with freshness and sweetness. In the peak spring season, if you eat them freshly boiled with just a bit of salt, a crunchy texture and a subtle bitterness within the sweetness will fill your mouth. It is a spring delicacy that allows you to directly taste the power of the ingredients.
