Ramen Salad
Chilled curly noodles are topped with an abundance of colorful fresh vegetables. When you take a bite coated in dressing, the crunchy texture and acidity glide smoothly down your throat. It is a ramen-style salad born in Hokkaido. Its origin dates back to 1985. It is said that when the beer hall 'Big Jug' within the Sapporo Grand Hotel opened, a chef at the time devised it with the goal of creating 'a ramen that can be enjoyed even in summer.' Its refreshing taste gained popularity and eventually spread to become a staple menu item in izakayas across the prefecture and even into school lunches. Whether as an accompaniment to beer or as a dish on its own, it is a refreshing plate that has become firmly rooted in the dining tables of Hokkaido.
