Tokachigawa Onsen Moor Onsen

For smooth, moisturized skin—Tokachigawa Onsen is home to the world's rare "Moor Onsen." "Moor" is a German word meaning peat. This spring water flows from layers of subbituminous coal formed by the accumulation and transformation of ancient plant matter over vast periods of time, resulting in a tea-colored water rich in plant-based organic matter. Hot springs derived from plants rather than minerals are rare globally, often compared to the Baden-Baden region in Germany. It has also been selected as a Hokkaido Heritage site as a "Hot Spring for Beautiful Skin." In the hot spring town, you can also enjoy gourmet food made with Tokachi's rich ingredients. With the silky waters and local delicacies, your journey will be one where both mind and body melt away into relaxation.
