Muroran Curry Ramen
A warming bowl that has been loved in the 'Steel City' of Muroran. Muroran Curry Ramen is a regional ramen that combines curly noodles with a spicy curry soup. Its roots lie in the curry ramen born in Tomakomai, which eventually took root in Muroran through a branch-store system. It is said to have been cherished as a nutritious food to warm the bodies of workers laboring in the cold within this industrial city that flourished through the steel industry. In 2006, the 'Muroran Curry Ramen Association' was established, and efforts continue to promote it as the 'fourth flavor' of Hokkaido ramen, following salt, soy sauce, and miso. The aroma of spices and the thick soup make this a bowl that warms you to the core. It is Muroran's soul food that you'll especially crave on a cold day.
