Tokachi Cheese
With a single bite, the sweetness of the milk and a hint of saltiness slowly unravel. The rich, deep flavor that spreads as you chew is the very taste of the bountiful land. The Tokachi Plain is surrounded by the Hidaka Mountains and the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range, receiving plenty of sunlight to grow highly nutritious pasture, making it a famous dairy production region. With the completion of Yotsuba's cheese factory in 1982, natural cheese making has been deeply rooted here for a long time. Today, it is said that half of Hokkaido's cheese factories are concentrated in Tokachi, accounting for approximately 60% of domestic natural cheese production. In 2023, 'Tokachi Raclette' was registered as Japan's first GI (Geographical Indication) cheese. It is an authentic taste nurtured by the climate and nature of Tokachi.
