The origin story goes that leftover squid tentacles from a sister sushi restaurant were tempura-fried and placed on top of rice. It became a staple menu item at the soba shop, gaining a reputation for being cheap, fast, and filling. Today, it remains deeply popular among motorcyclists traveling through Asahikawa and among tourists. It is unpretentious yet possesses a lingering deliciousness. It is a hidden masterpiece of Asahikawa's B-grade gourmet cuisine.
