Unzen Kinu no Shirabe
This Japanese confection takes its name from its texture, which is as smooth as silk. Tsubuan (chunky red bean paste) is gently wrapped in a thinly stretched habutae mochi. Its appearance is elegant and smooth, resembling yatsuhashi. The compatibility between the chewy, stretchy mochi dough and the sweet chunky bean paste is outstanding. The mochi itself has a subtle sweetness, making it a perfect accompaniment to tea. It is a well-loved souvenir of Unzen. Its soft texture and gentle sweetness are enjoyed by all generations. It is the kind of sweet you'll want to include as a small gift during your travels; you'll find yourself reaching for one after another.
