Sawa no Tsuyu
When held up to the light, they sparkle like tiny crystals. 'Sawa no Tsuyu' is an amber-colored candy that has been continuously produced in Otaru for over 100 years. Sawa no Tsuyu Honpo was founded in 1911. Since then, it has remained a rare shop in Japan that focuses solely on making this single type of candy. Their 100% pure production method—using only high-quality sugar and lemon aroma without any starch syrup or starch—is still preserved through artisanal handwork rather than relying on machines. As clear as its appearance, a clean and gentle sweetness spreads across the palate. It is a retro and elegant confection nurtured by the city of Otaru.
