Kokemomo Tart Cake
A sweet and sour tart cake made with 'kokemomo' (lingonberries) that grow wild in the Shiretoko region of Hokkaido. Kokemomo is also known as lingonberry and is a relative of the blueberry that grows in cold regions; it is also a beloved alpine plant in Northern Europe. The dough, made from flour, butter, and eggs mixed with brandy, hides a refreshing kokemomo jam inside. The gentle sweetness of the cake is layered with the characteristic sweet-and-sour taste and rich aroma of the kokemomo, leaving a very refreshing aftertaste. This item is also popular at the Michi-no-Eki Utoro-Shiretoku. The refreshing acidity that spreads with every bite is the essence of Shiretoko's nature itself. It is the perfect sweet to accompany your travel memories.
