Rokkatei Sanae-mochi
A May-exclusive mochi confection from Obihiro's Rokkatei, delivered during the rice-planting season. As the name 'Sanae' (young rice seedlings) suggests, it features an impressive, beautiful green color reminiscent of lush new greenery. Smooth red bean paste made from green peas is wrapped in chewy mochi. The surface is adorned with sparkling crystals of koori-mochi (mochi that has been frozen and dried), giving it a refreshing appearance. You can enjoy the hearty flavor and moderate sweetness of the green peas, and it tastes even better when served well-chilled. The glutinous rice provides a rich elasticity, spreading a chewy texture with every bite. It is a refreshing early summer Japanese sweet that evokes the atmosphere of Hokkaido during the rice-planting season.
