Rokkatei Tanabata-sama
A nerikiri (sweet bean paste confection) delivered by Obihiro's Rokkatei during the Tanabata season. In Hokkaido, Tanabata is celebrated on August 7th, later than in mainland Japan. Therefore, a unique feature is that it can be enjoyed for a longer period—from July to August 7th (excluding the Hakodate area). This gentle nerikiri uses matcha and kinako (roasted soybean powder), with a triangular shape reminiscent of Tanabata decorations. It has a soft, jelly-like texture that is easy to eat when chilled, making it perfect for the hot season. Since it does not keep long even under refrigeration, it is ideal as a gift for someone you intend to visit soon. It is a refreshing treat to savor while thinking of the starry sky during the season of writing wishes on paper strips.
