Yata Seika Japan's No. 1 Kibidango

A long-beloved kibidango from Yata Seika in Hokkaido. Unlike the kibidango found in Honshu, this is a stick-shaped traditional snack made by kneading glutinous rice and other ingredients into a dough, then wrapped in oblate (edible starch film). Its simple sweetness and chewy texture evoke a sense of nostalgia. It was born in 1923 (Taisho 12). To express a wish for mutual support during the reconstruction from the Great Kanto Earthquake and the development of Hokkaido, it was released using the auspicious characters 'Kibi-dan-go' (起備団合). Yata Seika, headquartered in Kuriyama Town, continues to create this same flavor to this day. Unpretentious yet unchanging in its deliciousness. It is a comforting snack that reminds you of childhood treats.
