Omachi Coal Mine Manju
The town's history is contained within its pitch-black appearance. Omachi Town is a "coal mining town" that flourished with the Kinosaki Coal Mine, the largest in Saga Prefecture, from the Meiji to the Showa eras. At its peak, many residents were involved in the mines, and lives were lived alongside coal. Even after the mine closed in 196lar, this Coal Mine Manju was created to pass on those memories through confectionery. Inside the pitch-black skin, inspired by coal, is an filling with the simple and warm sweetness of brown sugar. Taking a bite makes you reflect on the era of people who worked hard under the sun. Although the mine closed in 1969, those memories continue to live quietly within this black manju. It is a unique item from Omachi where history and flavor blend together.
