Ogi Yokan
Crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside—Ogi Yokan is a confection that allows you to enjoy two different textures in a single slice. Born in Ogi City, Saga Prefecture, this traditional sweet is made by setting kneaded dough in wooden boxes and slicing it with a knife. As time passes, the sugar crystallizes on the surface, creating that unique crunchy texture. Benefiting from the 'Sugar Road' through which sugar was transported via Nagasaki, Ogi is home to about twenty yokan shops and is often called Japan's number one town for yokan.
