Shisou Momiji Manju

These soft and gentle manju were born from the famous autumn foliage spots that color the mountains in autumn. Mount Mogiyama Park in Shisou City is a renowned spot selected as one of the '100 Best Autumn Foliage Sites in Japan,' where the entire mountain is dyed in a fiery red during the fall. This Momiji Manju was created in honor of that beautiful scenery woven by approximately 3,000 maple trees. Smoothly cooked smooth red bean paste (koshian) is gently wrapped in dough shaped like a maple leaf. Each one is handmade by a local Japanese confectionery shop. This simple, exquisite confection reflects the autumn of Shisou and becomes a popular souvenir during the Autumn Foliage Festival. It is a treat you will want to enjoy with tea while imagining the autumn colors of the mountain village.
