Kasumi Pear Sweets
We have crafted juicy sweets using Kasumi pears nurtured by the sea breeze of the Sea of Japan. Pear jelly and pear juice are gaining popularity at locations such as the roadside station. Pear cultivation in Kasumi began in 1929 with the planting of Nijuuseki pear saplings. The trees grow on mountain slopes overlooking the Sea of Japan, absorbing the salty sea breeze. Several varieties, including the Hyogo Prefecture original variety 'Nashi Otome,' are cultivated, making them a representative taste of autumn in Tajima. We use this bountiful harvest generously in our jellies and cakes. With a crisp texture and refreshing sweetness, it is an annual autumn delight that you will find yourself eagerly awaiting—a pleasure unique to Kasumi, embraced by the Sea of Japan and the mountains.
