Takasago no Matsuoemon Hobu Gashi

Matsuoemon Kora was an inventor from Takasago who was active during the late Edo period. In 1785, he improved ship sails, which were previously weak, into a durable woven fabric, dramatically enhancing ship performance with what became known as the 'Matsuoemon Sail.'
