Born in Taishi Town, a place closely associated with Prince Shotoku, this monaka features the fragrant aroma of yuzu bean paste with a pleasant level of sweetness. It has been selected as a Hyogo Prefecture certified food and is popular as a gift. The name 'Taishi' originates from Prince Shotoku. It is said that in the 14th year of Empress Suiko (606 AD), the Prince named the Harima region he was granted for his merit in lecturing on Buddhist scriptures 'Ikaruga-no-so' and established Ikaruga Temple at its center. This monaka is carefully crafted one by one by a local confectionery shop in this land where over 1,400 years of historical romance lives on. With its crisp wafer and bean paste with a refreshing yuzu aroma, it is a prestigious confection of Taishi Town that you can enjoy while reflecting on ancient history.
