Amagasaki Castle Monaka
In 2019, after approximately 400 years, Amagasaki Castle was reconstructed. Amagasaki Castle Monaka is a Japanese sweet reminiscent of a castle town, shaped like the castle itself. Amagasaki Castle was built in the early Edo period but was demolished due to the Meiji-era Castle Abolition Ordinance. However, thanks to the passion of the citizens and donations from local companies, the main keep was brought back to life in the final year of the Heisei era. To celebrate this historic milestone, a local confectionery shop created this monaka inspired by the castle. It is a treat featuring a crispy shell filled with plenty of sweet bean paste. Each piece, enjoyed while gazing at the revived castle, is filled with the pride of the town. Please pick one up as a souvenir of your historical stroll through Amagasaki.
