Tanba Chestnut Sweets
These sweets feature a generous use of large Tanba chestnuts nurtured by thick fog. A single bite of freshly piped Mont Blanc or chestnut tart will make you feel the arrival of autumn. The history of Tanba chestnuts is ancient, recorded as an imperial tribute in the 'Engishiki' of 927 AD. The heavy fog and significant temperature fluctuations unique to this basin produce some of the largest chestnuts in Japan. Every autumn, a chestnut fair is held in Tanba Sasayama, drawing crowds eager for freshly made Mont Blanc. With a rich, dense, and creamy chestnut sweetness, these treats offer an exceptionally luxurious moment where you can fully savor the bountiful blessings of Tanba, available only during this season of the year.
