Kushikatsu

Dip the crispy fried coating into the sauce and take a big bite. It's light and crunchy, making it hard to stop at just one. It is said to have originated at 'Daruma' in Shinsekai. In 1929 (Showa 4), the first owner, Yoshie Hyakuno, opened the shop, and it is told that they initially sold beef and potato skewers for just one sen each. The skewers were designed to be cheap and delicious so that manual laborers could quickly fill their stomachs. It is also said that the rule of 'no double-dipping' in the shared sauce pot—to keep it clean—spread from here. While scooping up extra sauce with the accompanying cabbage, you can taste the warmth and hospitality of Osaka packed into every single skewer.
