Matsusaka Beef
The moment it enters your mouth, you experience the melting sweetness of the fat. The fine marbling dissolves smoothly on the tongue. This is the prowess of what is often called a "work of art in meat." Matsusaka beef consists of Japanese Black cattle carefully raised in Matsusaka City and its vicinity, selected from across the country. It is counted as one of Japan's three major Wagyu brands. During the Meiji era, its reputation spread nationwide through practices such as "ushi-oi dochu," where cattle were driven on foot to Tokyo. It is said that the turning point for Matsusaka beef's fame was when local cattle won the top prize at a nationwide competition in 1935. It is a pinnacle brand of beef that Japan takes pride in, perfect for savoring on special occasions.
