Octopus of Hinagata Island
Floating at the tip of the Chita Peninsula lies Hinagata Island, the 'Island of Octopus.' Nestled between Mikawa Bay and Ise Bay, octopus fishing has supported the island's way of life since ancient times. The shallow waters surrounding the island serve as an ideal fishing ground for octopus, where prey such as shellfish and crabs gather.
