Jumangoku Monaka
Fluffy, as if the bean paste were floating in mid-air—Taki's famous confection 'Jumangoku Monaka' is a substantial treat cradling a generous amount of bean paste. It is crafted by Tsuchiya, a long-established confectionery shop located in the castle town. The monaka shell is adorned with the 'Tachiaoi' (standing hollyhock) crest, which is associated with the Honke family, who once served as the lords of Taki Castle. The bean paste, made from carefully simmered Hokkaido adzuki beans, has a simple, traditional sweetness without the use of preservatives. Because it does not have a long shelf life, you can enjoy the taste of it freshly made. With its crispy shell and plenty of smooth bean paste, this Japanese sweet provides a sense of fulfillment with just one bite alongside your tea.
