Saga Langue de Chat Genkou
The 'Genkou' is a legendary citrus fruit that grows wild on Mawatarijima, an island floating off the coast of Karatsu City. This is a slightly unique langue de chat made by kneading its rare juice into the dough. It is said that the name 'Genkou' originates from the Mongol invasions (Genko) during the Kamakura period. This citrus fruit is also said to have been brought to the island by missionaries long ago, but its numbers have decreased so significantly that it has become a precious existence known as the 'phantom fruit.' Its refreshing acidity is captured within a light and crispy dough. Enjoy the crisp texture accompanied by a gentle, bittersweet, and refreshing citrus aroma. Please enjoy this flavor that can be found nowhere else, nurtured by a small island in Karatsu.
